“To Build a Fire” by Jack London

Alone in the woods, with a blizzard coming in, and with very few supplies, can you start a fire on your own? One of the most famous examples of “man versus nature,” “To Build a Fire” is the story of a man and his dog, struggling to survive in freezing conditions. If you’re going to rely on rubbing two sticks or banging two stones together, this might be something you ought to read.
