“In a Grove” by Ryunosuke Akutagawa

Published in 1922, “In a Grove” has been hailed as the best literary work coming out of Japan. At its heart, “In a Grove” is a murder mystery, but figuring out what exactly happened is a complex task, because of seven, contradictory accounts from the witnesses to the crime. Which one is correct? Are any of them correct? What is the truth?

This story was adapted by renowned director Akira Kurosawa, and turned into the film “Rashomon”
